Anyone can publish free courses, while premium instructors set prices and earn a share of each sale. Udemy's published revenue share is 97% when a student buys through the instructor's coupon or referral link and 37% for organic marketplace sales, with additional revenue from Udemy Business and subscription plans. Payouts go through PayPal, Payoneer, Tipalti or US-only direct deposit, and Udemy charges no transaction fee on payouts.

Who can apply

Becoming a premium instructor is free, and approval usually comes within 2 business days. You need a profile with your name, headline, bio and photo, must accept the instructor terms and set up a payout method. Income comes from course sales, not hourly work.
