SpeakWrite is a transcription service whose remote contract typists transcribe dictation and audio for law enforcement, legal, investigator and business clients, choosing their own hours. Per-line or per-minute rates are not published. SpeakWrite states that average monthly income is $100 and that top earners make $1,000 or more per month with bonuses and incentives, so this works best as a side gig. The payment schedule was not published.

Who can apply

You must be a legal resident of the US or Canada, excluding California because of AB-5, with at least 1 year of professional transcription or word processing experience in the past 5 years. Applicants need to type 60 WPM at 90% accuracy, have advanced Microsoft Word skills and work at least 4 hours a week. You need a 64-bit Windows 11 PC with 6 GB of RAM and headphones; Macs work only when running Windows, and tablets are not supported. A Spanish transcriptionist track is also available, and SpeakWrite warns that genuine messages come only from @speakwrite.com addresses.
