ALTA Language Services hires remote Testing Evaluators who are native speakers of a language to give and score language proficiency tests. Evaluators run tests by phone, video or recorded audio and score them against ALTA's scoring criteria, and ALTA currently posts openings for about 20 languages, such as Tagalog, Turkish, Dari, Yoruba and Swedish. ALTA states pay of $9 to $30 per test depending on your qualifications, language and demand, and training before you start is paid. Payout method and timing are not published.

Who can apply

You need native fluency in the target language, English at ILR level 2+ or higher, a college degree, computer and email access and Microsoft Office experience, and you must be based in the US outside Maine and Puerto Rico. The role is an on-demand, part-time contingent employee position without benefits, and ALTA participates in E-Verify. Openings are posted per language, so availability depends on your language, and ALTA warns that real recruiters only contact you from @altalang.com addresses.
