Smartcat

About Smartcat

Smartcat runs a marketplace where freelance linguists create a free profile, set their rates and subject areas, and accept translation and localization assignments from buyers. Freelancers set their own rates per word or per character. Invoices are generated automatically, and payment options include bank card, wire transfer and PayPal. Any commission Smartcat takes on freelancer earnings was not stated on the pages reviewed.

Who can apply

Joining is free, and your vendor profile lists your languages, qualifications, rates and availability. Smartcat says its marketplace has more than 500,000 language professionals, so competition is high and demand varies by language pair.
