About RCM College of Examiners

The Royal Conservatory of Music runs a College of Examiners of more than 350 examiners across North America. Examiners are experienced music teachers and performers who evaluate students in Royal Conservatory Certificate Program exams in practical subjects or theory, and the program currently focuses on remote examining. The Royal Conservatory does not publish pay, payout method or timing, or whether examiners are contractors or employees.

Who can apply

You need a Bachelor of Music or equivalent (a master's is preferred), RCM Teacher Certification at the Advanced Specialist level, five years of professional teaching and a record of success with RCM exam candidates, plus festival or competition adjudicating experience for practical subjects. Accepted applicants must complete the Adjudicator Certification Program of online seminars and a practicum, and any fee for it is not stated, while the required RCM Teacher Certification is a separate credential that may carry its own fees. Applications are accepted year-round and held for the next training session.
