Chess Wizards

About Chess Wizards

Chess Wizards runs after-school chess classes for children and hires lead and assistant instructors to teach them at local schools with its curriculum. Pay varies by city; fall 2026 postings pay $55 to $75 per class in San Francisco and $50 to $65 in Kutztown, Pennsylvania, with a class taking about 1.5 hours including setup. Instructors teach 1 to 5 classes a week in fall and spring sessions, and mileage is reimbursed for trips over 15 miles one way.

Who can apply

You need experience working with groups of children, solid chess fundamentals, a reliable car and weekday afternoon availability (classes usually start between 2 and 5 PM), and you must already live in the area. Apply with a resume and questionnaire to the posting for your city. The postings don't say whether instructors are employees or contractors.
