Certified Languages International (CLI) hires independent contractors to interpret phone calls, mostly medical, from home, logging on and off whenever they choose. Pay is per minute: applicants propose their own per-minute rate, and CLI says lower rates get more calls. Payment is made twice a month, on the 15th and the last day of the month, by direct deposit. CLI lists dozens of remote contract openings by language.

Who can apply

You must live in the US or Canada and have an SSN or EIN, photo ID, at least 2 years of professional interpreting experience and a passing language assessment. Calls are taken by landline or through an online portal, and CCHI, NBCMI or court certification is preferred. Some roles, including the Spanish interpreter role, are not recruiting in California, New York or New Jersey.
