Clickworker is one of the oldest microtask sites on the internet, and one of the few that also gives you access to UHRS, a large pool of AI and search-rating tasks. It also asks for your ID, your Social Security number and a signed W-9 before it pays you, which makes plenty of new users wonder whether it's a scam.
This review covers whether Clickworker is legit, the kinds of jobs it offers, how much they pay, how and when you get paid, the 2026 changes for workers in North America, and what Clickworkers say on Reddit. Details come from Clickworker's own website, support center and terms, which we checked on October 7, 2026.
Is Clickworker Legit?
Yes. Clickworker is a real company that has paid freelancers for online tasks since 2005, when it started in Essen, Germany, as humangrid GmbH. The AI data company LXT announced it was acquiring Clickworker in December 2024. Clickworker says millions of people have registered, though its own pages give different totals, from 6 million to 10 million.
Clickworker also co-wrote Germany's Crowdsourcing Code of Conduct, says it doesn't set country-specific pay below local minimum wages, and lets workers take disputes to an independent ombudsman office run with the German union IG Metall.
That said, being legit isn't the same as being a good deal. Pay per task is small, work comes and goes, and payments take weeks to clear. Its reviews reflect that mix:
- Trustpilot: 2.3 out of 5 from about 3,190 reviews. 64% are five stars, but recent one-star reviews about low pay and suspensions pull the score down.
- App Store: 4.3 out of 5 from about 6,800 ratings.
- Google Play: 4.0 out of 5 from about 121,000 ratings, with more than 5 million downloads.
- BBB: not rated and not accredited, with four complaints in the last three years.
What Clickworker Jobs Are Available?
Clickworker splits big data jobs from businesses into small tasks. The main types are:
- Text writing: product, travel and topic descriptions. You pass a one-time author assessment, and your star rating (2 to 5) sets your pay per word.
- Web research: finding or updating business details like addresses.
- Surveys: from Clickworker's clients and third-party survey partners.
- AI data collection: photos of everyday objects, short audio recordings and short videos used to train AI.
- Store photo jobs: photographing shelves and displays in local stores, which Reddit users say are among the best-paid tasks.
- App testing for Android and iOS.
- UHRS tasks: rating search results and AI output on a partner platform (more below).
You unlock most projects by passing assessments. Some can't be repeated, and the ones that can have at least a 60-day wait, so read the instructions carefully. Which assessments you see depends on your profile, including the languages you list, so keep it accurate.
Clickworker is clear that work isn't guaranteed: "The workload changes regularly," and some days there may be very little to do.
What is UHRS on Clickworker?
UHRS (Universal Human Relevance System) is a separate task platform best known for search and AI rating work, and it's widely reported to be run by Microsoft. Clickworker is one of several vendors that give workers access, and it pays you for UHRS work through your Clickworker account.
To get in, you pass a short UHRS assessment in your Clickworker account. It includes an English test where you need at least 80%, and you can't retake it. You then sign in to UHRS with a special Microsoft account, with each session lasting up to eight hours. Inside UHRS, tasks are grouped into "HitApps," each with its own qualification and quality score.
A few things to know:
- Work volume varies a lot. Clickworker says, "Sometimes there will be plenty of work, sometimes not as much, and sometimes almost none at all."
- UHRS pay takes 39 days to clear. Earnings are credited weekly but become payable 39 days after the work is done.
- Workers outside the US, Canada and Mexico give up 4%. Clickworker converts UHRS earnings from dollars to euros and keeps 4%. North American workers keep 100%.
- Don't use two UHRS vendors at once. Clickworker warns that it can get your UHRS access and all vendor accounts permanently suspended.
- No VPNs or travel. UHRS blocks access from VPNs and from outside your country.
How Much Can You Make on Clickworker?
Clickworker doesn't publish an hourly rate. It says tasks pay "anywhere from cent amounts to two-digit euro sums," you always see the pay before you start, and Clickworker "should not be considered a substitute for full-time employment."
In practice, most people earn pocket money. Independent reviews estimate a few dollars an hour on regular tasks, and more on UHRS when work is available. On Reddit, results range widely: one worker reported about $50 a week from voice comparison tasks, others earn $30 to $80 per store photo job, and some report a few cents for surveys that screened them out partway through. Workers outside the US and Europe often say the pay is lower in their countries.
Clickworker also pays a referral bonus of €5 or $5 once a friend you refer has been paid €10 or $10.

How Clickworker Pays You
Clickworker pays automatically in a weekly bill run that starts every Wednesday. You don't need to request a payout, but you must have your payment details and tax information on file and have reached the minimum.
The catch is that earnings don't become payable right away. Regular jobs take 7 to 30 days to become payable, store visits take 30 days, and UHRS work takes 39 days. That delay is the most common source of confusion on Reddit.
Payment methods and minimums:
- ACH bank transfer (US): $10 minimum, no fee.
- PayPal: €10 minimum and a 2% fee. Your PayPal account must be able to receive euros, and it's not available to US workers.
- SEPA bank transfer (EU): €10 minimum, €0.18 fee.
- Payoneer: €20 or $20 minimum, with a €2.50 or €12 fee depending on the account type.
- Airtm: €10 or $10 minimum, 1% fee.
- Clickworker eWallet: €10 or $10 minimum. You can withdraw to a bank, gift card, paper check or Bitcoin, though the provider may charge fees.
The payment account must be in your own name. If you delete your Clickworker account, any balance below the minimum payout is forfeited.
Big Changes for US, Canadian and Mexican Workers in 2026
If you live in North America, your Clickworker account is moving to a new company. Accounts held by Clickworker's US company are being transferred to LXT AI Inc., based in Ontario, Canada, under new terms that took effect on August 1, 2026. The main changes:
- Payouts at least every 14 days, through ACH, Payoneer, I-Payout, Airtm or, for workers outside the US, PayPal.
- A new W-9 for US workers. Clickworker says some US workers may receive separate 2026 tax forms from each company.
- Binding individual arbitration for disputes.
- Termination without cause with 30 days' notice.
Workers elsewhere stay with Clickworker's German company under its existing terms.
Do You Pay Taxes on Clickworker Earnings?
Yes. Clickworkers are freelancers, so no taxes are withheld and you're responsible for reporting your income. US workers must provide a Social Security number and upload a signed W-9 before they can be paid. The name, address and SSN must match your profile exactly, and typed signatures are rejected. Clickworker says it prepares the tax forms required by law, so expect a 1099 if your earnings cross IRS reporting thresholds, and report all of your income either way.

The Rules That Can Get Your Account Suspended
Most Clickworker horror stories on Reddit come down to its security rules. Know these before you start:
- One account per person, and no more than three accounts per household. Each person may need to prove their identity and address.
- Accurate personal details. False information, including about the languages you speak, can get your account suspended and your earnings withheld.
- The Clickworker app is required. It handles two-factor login, and you can't use the web workplace without it. Don't share your phone with another Clickworker.
- No VPNs, and be careful traveling. Logging in from another country can trigger a temporary block and a request for documents.
- No bots or scripts, and no sharing project details.
- Quality matters. Your rating is the average of your last 25 job evaluations, and hidden test questions can remove you from a project.
If your account is suspended, Clickworker may ask for ID, proof of address, phone or tax information, and says reviews can take up to 14 days.
What Clickworkers Say on Reddit
We reviewed every post in r/clickworker from January 2025 to October 2026, about 410 of them after removing spam, plus Clickworker posts in r/UHRSwork and r/beermoney. The main themes, roughly:
- Payment confusion (about 26% of posts). Mostly new users wondering why their balance says "payable in 30 days" or why an invoice hasn't arrived, plus a few real delays.
- UHRS has no work (about 15%). Many users report no HitApps for weeks. One worker said they made $430 on UHRS in a month last year but saw almost nothing this year.
- Suspensions and ID checks (about 13%). Sudden "temporary suspensions" with document requests, and unease about ID, face and SSN tasks.
- Survey screen-outs (about 10%). Users report being screened out of most surveys, sometimes after several minutes, for a cent or two.
- App and login bugs (about 10%). Two-factor loops, error pages and "app version not accepted" messages.
- "Is it worth it?" (about 9%). The consensus in a popular thread on doing Clickworker full-time: projects come and go, and there won't be 40 hours of work a week.
The positive posts mostly say the same thing: Clickworker does pay, just not much, and store photo jobs are the best-paid work when they're available in your area.

Common Questions About Clickworker
Does Clickworker really pay?
Yes. Clickworker pays weekly to accounts that have reached the minimum and completed their payment and tax details. Most payment complaints on Reddit come from the 7- to 39-day wait before earnings become payable.
Is Clickworker safe?
It's a real, long-running company, but it does ask for sensitive information like your ID and, in the US, your Social Security number and W-9. Only enter these inside workplace.clickworker.com or the official app, never in response to an email, text or Telegram message.
Can you use PayPal for Clickworker in the US?
No. US workers are paid by ACH, Payoneer, Airtm, I-Payout or the Clickworker eWallet. PayPal is available outside the US, and the account must be able to receive euros.
How long does it take to get paid on Clickworker?
Regular jobs become payable 7 to 30 days after you complete them, and UHRS work after 39 days. After that, money is paid in the next weekly bill run, which starts each Wednesday.
Is Clickworker Worth It?
Clickworker is a legitimate way to earn a little extra money from home, with a long history and access to UHRS. It works best as a side gig: expect small amounts, slow payouts and uneven work, and follow the account rules closely so you don't get stuck in a suspension. If you mainly want UHRS, compare vendors, and if you want higher pay for skilled work, AI training platforms usually pay much more.
