About Carepool
Carepool drives older adults and people with disabilities to dialysis, medical appointments and work, often the same riders on a regular schedule. Drivers use their own car for riders who can walk, or a wheelchair-accessible van for wheelchair riders, and get rides through the Carepool Drivers app. Drivers are paid per project as 1099 contractors, automatically each week. A current Twin Cities posting pays $45 per wheelchair-van pickup plus $2 a mile after the first 4 miles, and $10 per ride plus $1.10 a mile after 5 miles in your own car.
Who can apply
You must be 21 or older with a valid license, a reliable insured vehicle and a clean driving record, and complete Carepool's online training course. Some postings ask for healthcare experience or a year of professional driving. Wheelchair rides need a wheelchair-accessible van or willingness to drive one. Openings are posted by city on Carepool's careers board.
